### Lesson Plan: Counting/Identification of Numbers 1-800
**Grade Level**: Nursery 2
**Subject**: Numeracy
**Topic**: Counting/Identification of Numbers 1-800
---
#### Objective:
1. Students will be able to count from 1 to 800.
2. Students will be able to identify and recognize numbers from 1 to 800.
#### Materials Needed:
- Number flashcards (1-800)
- Large number chart (1-800)
- Whiteboard and markers
- Counting beads or blocks
- Number worksheets
- Interactive counting games (digital or physical)
- Sticky notes
#### Introduction (10 minutes):
1. **Greeting and Review**: Begin with a friendly greeting to the students. Review previous lessons on counting to 100 and recognizing smaller numbers.
2. **Song/Chant**: Introduce a counting song that goes up to 800. Songs and chants make learning numbers fun and engaging.
#### Direct Instruction (15 minutes):
1. **Number Chart**: Display the large number chart (1-800). Point to each number as you collectively count with the class. Break it down into segments (1-100, 101-200, etc.) for manageability.
2. **Flashcards**: Show the number flashcards in random order and have the students shout out the numbers. Alternate between individual responses and group responses.
3. **Whiteboard Activity**: Write random numbers on the whiteboard and ask students to identify them. Also, ask them to write numbers on the board themselves.
#### Guided Practice (20 minutes):
1. **Counting Beads/Blocks**: Distribute counting beads, blocks, or another counting manipulatives. Have students group them in sets to count in increments of 10s, 20s, up to 100s.
2. **Match and Identify**: Give students sticky notes numbered from 1 to 800 and have them stick them on the matching number on the large number chart.
#### Independent Practice (15 minutes):
1. **Worksheets**: Provide worksheets where students have to match numbers, fill in missing numbers in a sequence, and circle the correct number.
2. **Counting Game**: Set up an interactive game where students roll dice, count objects, and match them to numbered cards up to 800.
#### Closing (10 minutes):
1. **Review**: Quickly go over the numbers again using the number chart.
2. **Question Time**: Ask students random numbers to ensure they can recognize and say them correctly.
3. **Positive Reinforcement**: Praise students for their hard work and participation.
#### Assessment:
- Observe and note students' ability to count aloud and identify numbers during activities.
- Collect and review worksheet activities to gauge individual understanding.
#### Homework:
- Provide a take-home counting chart for practice. Ask parents to help students count from 1 to 800 and mark off each group of 100 they complete.
#### Differentiation:
- For advanced learners, provide additional exercises that involve basic addition or subtraction within the range of 1-800.
- For struggling learners, focus on smaller segments (up to 100, then 200, etc.) and use more visual aids and hands-on activities.
#### Extension Activities:
- Introduce simple games on a tablet or computer that focus on identifying numbers up to 800.
- Encourage students to come up to the board to write numbers as high as they can from memory.
